I Hate Pasko!...

Dalawang tulog na nga lang at PASKO na!...Halos lahat yata ay excited sa pagsapit ng araw na yon pero ang inyong lingkod ay kabaligtaran ang nararamdaman. Yez, hate na hate ko talaga ang pasko!... as in kinaiinisan ko talaga ang araw na ito!

Kung pwede lang sanang maghibernate sa mga lugar na walang ganitong okasyon at walang iiwanang responsibilidad na nakaatang sa balikat ay matagal ko ng ginawa!...Pero ikaw gusto mo bang malaman kung bakit ganito na lang ang nararamdaman ko tuwing dumarating ang pasko?...Well ipagpatuloy mo na lang ang pagbasa.

Pag pasko ang kasingkahulugan niyan ay araw ng mga paggastos!...dahil nakatanim na sa ating isipan na ito ay araw ng pagbibigayan kaya hayan at di tayo magkandaugaga sa pagbili ng mga panregalo. Okey lang sana kung para sa pamilya pero nandyan pa ang mga pamangkin, mga inaanak, officemates at kung sinu-sino pa na kung minsan ay hahadaan ka pang regaluhan sila. At kung wala ka namang ibibigay ay ikaw pa ang lalabas na masama at paparatangang madamot, kuripot, walang puso at kung anik anik pa...At syempre pag mga ganitong tyempo ay hindi talaga uso ang tipid tipid. Mula sa pagkain, kuryente, tubig, isama mo na ring ang pagconsume mo ng load/telepono--lahat yan lumulobo! Okey lang siguro kung isa kang empleyado ng gobyerno o kahit s a pribadong kumpanya at least may aasahan kang bonus at 13-month pay, pero kung ikaw na may mga taong nagtatrabaho sa yo, mahirap gawin na di ibigay ang mga bagay na talagang inasahan na nila.

Nandiyan din ang mga nangangaroling. Oks lang pag mga batang makukulit at kahit paulit-ulit basta ba okey ang mood ko pero kung mga matatanda na ginagamit ang pagiging indigenous kuno, konting tambol tambol lang sa iyong harapan (sori di ko alam ang pangalan ng instrument, un bang ginagamit sa pag-"tadek" in iloko) at konting sayaw, presto- datung na! Dumarami din ung mga taong harap-harapan kang lokohin gaya ng bibigyan ka ng sobre o isang papel na may nakasulat na kesyo nagsosolicit sila ng tulong para sa isang foundation..grrr! pag pasko talaga naglalabasan ang mga mandurugas!

Bukod dyan tuwing pasko ay nasisira din ang aking diet!...Ako na isang tabaing tao, nalingat lang sa pagdidyeta at pag-eexercise ay agad na mamumutiktik sa aking katawan ang mga taba at madadagdagan ang aking timbang! Sa dami ng mga pagkaing nakahilera sa iyong harapan ay talagang ibayong hirap sa pagkontrol sa sarili ang kinakailangan.

Isa pang dahilan kung bakit hate ko ang pasko ay ang pagdoble ng pressure sa trabaho. Lahat ay double time mula sa ordinaryong working day kaya naman sa gabi ay super stress ang byuti ko at pag umatake pa si Mang Insomnia ay ngarag na talaga ko kinabukasan.

Pero siyempre pag mga ganitong okasyon naman ay di ring maiwasang makinig at magpatugtog ng mga kantang pamasko...Gaya na lamang ng isang awiting ito ni Ka Freddie na tuwing nakaplay at lumalabas mula sa 'king music player ay medyo pinagmuni-muni niya ako...Idol talaga si Ka Freddie Aguilar dahil lumikha sya ng isang napakaganda at kaaya-ayang awiting pampasko.

BEST COLLABZ!

I love it when two or more artists agreed to collaborate a song especially when they are very current and the ones that usually topped the charts and the record tills.

This year is no exception- their are song collaborations out there that really worth listening. Sometimes it make us surprise because of the unusual pairings (e.g. Taylor Swift and T-Pain in Thug Story to Lady Gaga and Beyonce's Telephone) but what's more important is that they gave us a good material that is really entertaining.

I never thought that they would come together. This song really gives me chills...its so beautiful!

The collaboration plan started when Mayer guested in Swifts' Fearless tour. So here it is and was also released as the the next single from Mayer's latest work "Battle Studies".



This song is currently the #01 single in Billboard Hot 100 chart. Its a duet from rapper Jay-z and Grammy award winner artist Alicia Keys. The song is Empire State of Mind.

Akuztik Pick 8: LENKA

I saw Lenka's guesting in ASAP 09 today singing her signature song, The Show. (Watch the clip here.)

Although she sounds like a second rate Lily Allen (and reminds me of Katy Perry!), she has her own musical highlights especially with the song Trouble is a friend. The acoustic version is much better than the studio one. It's pretty awesome and raw - so better check it out guyz!

BOYS LIKE GIRLS acoustic

American pop rock band BOYS LIKE GIRLS are definitely one of the hottest act this 2009. They continue their mark on the mainstream music scene when they scored another chart topper/radio-friendly song LOVE DRUNK which also the title of their second studio album.

The bad thing about this band is that their sound is so generic. Sometimes you feel like listening to Blink 182 or Good Charlotte. But when it comes to their songwriting skills and highly melodic sound then you would give a credit for this band.

Take for example in TWO IS BETTER THAN ONE - once you hear the melody of the song it is really so addictive plus the fact that it features guest vocal from no less than country teen sweetheart Taylor Swift. Her voice is very well-suited to Martin Johnson (lead vocalists of Boys like Girls) and its really a very moving duet that stands as proof of its own title.

Surely, Boys Like Girls will continue to shine this 2010!

BAD DAY

Canadian singer-songwriter DANIEL POWTER become famous with his signature song Bad Day in 2006 and topped the list of One Hit Wonder of the decade by Billboard Magazine. The magazine defined a one-hit-wonder as any act who managed to crack the charts/record sales with their first single then never heard them again.

The song was used in American Idol Season 5 as a 'goodbye song' for the contestant who are voted off every week then eventually went to #01 spot for five weeks.


Powter, who said he has battled drugs and dyslexia in the past, took two years off after "Bad Day" made him famous. He returned last year with a new album Under The Radar, but failed to mimic the success of his first hit.

Some Songs from New Moon Soundtrack

With the NEW MOON taking the world by storm, its hard to ignore the movie soundtrack to be featured here especially when I saw the album made it to the top of world music charts. I bought a copy the moment I heard that some of my fave indie artists are included on the track list. So without further ado, i listened to the album which comprises 15 rock/alternative tracks and personally, it has only 4-5 stand out songs the rest I found it very dull and boring. But if your really a die-hard fan of this movie plus artists like Muse, The Killers and Thom York from Radiohead all in one compilation, then this one is definitely a must-have.

Two cuts from the album are featured below with its acoustic version. The first one from DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE with the song Meet me on the Equinox. Its the movie's first official single and is lot more poignant than Paramore's single for the first movie.

The second is Satellite Heart, a beautiful ballad this time sung by ANYA MARINA. Im glad that she's starting to get noticed in mainstream music scene coz she's really good as a singer songwriter with a great melancholic voice.

Music lovers looking to explore somewhat more edgy materials is the positive side of this soundtrack. If you like to discover new sound from new artists, I guess this collection is a great starting point!

KATY PERRY Unplugged!

KATY PERRY, a veritable princess of pop has a new, cool release for the fans! She's proud to be following in the footsteps of Nirvana and Alanis Morissette by recording her own MTV Unplugged session last July 22, 2009 that has been compiled into a CD/DVD set and released by Capitol Records.
The album features a handful of her charttopper singles accompanied by acoustic stylized arrangements. It also includes one cover song and a never before released original tune. The album gives a new appreciation for Perry’s vocal skills and talent to sing for acoustic elements, classic piano, orchestral strings, jazz horns, and country western flanged repertoires.

The new cd is a must for Perry’s fans and has the potential of catapulting Perry into the realm of iconic status.

To all Bon Jovi fans out there - the band has just released their new cd entitled THE CIRCLE. This is their 11th studio album which is debuted at #01 spot in several countries including the US Billboard 200 chart. The carrier single WE WEREN'T BORN TO FOLLOW is a catchy, fun and inspirational rock song although it hasn't got the power of IT'S MY LIFE, definitely one of the best track in the album.

Akuztik Pick 7: ANNA NALICK

Singer-songwriter Anna Nalick create big waves in 2005 with the song BREATHE (2 AM) which become a radio hit and in the charts as well. The song was featured prominently in shows like Greys Anatomy, Charmed and a film starring Ashton Kutcher titled A Lot Like Love.

The song was included in her debut album WRECK OF THE DAY which was generally well received by music critics. The video below is the acoustic version of the same title. Buffer it and enjoy!

Kesha Rose Sebert or known by the stylized stage name KE$HA is the newest female act that topped the charts with her debut single TIK TOK. At first, I thought the song was from The Ting Tings until I found out that she's also the female voice behind Flo Rida's Right Round.

The song was originally titled as "Dolla" then changed it to "P. Diddy". It was later confirmed by her record label that the final title of the track is TIK TOK.

I kinda like her stuff actually. Electro/Pop-rock with an atittude. Some of her songs are floating around the net too. Songs like Backstabber and Chain Reaction.

I cant sleep. Here we go again...While everyone is snoring their ass off, I am sleep deprived. Insomnia, that's the better medical term to finally place a reason of the trouble of sleeping.

In focus: JOSHUA RADIN

Singer-songwriter JOSHUA RADIN is not your mainstream type of artist. But with his ability to make simplicity beautiful is carried out in every song he wrote and sing.

Take for example in the song SKY- a cut from his 2008 album SIMPLE TIMES, his whispery vocal style allows him to blend well with the voice of another favorite indie artist MEIKO. The simple melody seems to have been written in a better time for Radin as a stream of positivity runs through its entirety.

ALICIA KEYS NEW CD!

This year wouldn't mean anything without a brand new album from 12-time Grammy Award winner ALICIA KEYS. Set to released on December 15 (US), the album titled THE ELEMENTS OF FREEDOM, her fourth studio album since As I Am (2007).Keys said the album is diverse but has an overarching pattern. "There's a feeling theme," she explained. "And I think somewhere in there, there's a balance. It's like one side is strong and one side is vulnerable. So that's the theme throughout the album. It has this kind of strong, edgy feel. But it's also intimate and vulnerable and delicate."

The first single, DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING is a perfect blend of a power ballad and a mid tempo love song that marks her poppiest work to date.

KRISSY AND ERICKA already hit the airwaves with their song UP UP DOWN DOWN, the first single from their self-titled debut album under MCA Universal records.

If you like the sound of M2M- the Norwegian pop music duo that invade us in the mid-1990's with hits like Pretty Boy and Mirror, Mirror then you might also like the sound of Krissy and Ericka. Most of their songs are pop acoustic and has been redeeming awesome reviews and applause from Filipino audience.

When Scarlett sings...

When actress SCARLETT JOHANSSON released her 2008 debut album ANYWHERE I LAY MY HEAD, only few people take her seriously.

But with the released of BREAK UP, her new album with PETE YORN, Johansson's husky, sultry voice fit well on almost every track. She is far better to the more straight forward and less experimental than her previous work which i think her dispassionate vocals were overshadowed by a thick haze of sound effects.
The first single RELATOR is folky and upbeat. I actually found this song enjoyable especially with this amazing performance by the two:

I damn love this song!...its very meaningful and deep. As long as the intro kick off, you feel yourself being taken off to a playful and fanciful musical world. With a lyrics about lightning bulb, dancing and insomnia, i find it very cool and refreshing!.

If you enjoy electronic music or likes to relax to a more upbeat song, this one is very calming and reminds me a lot about nature, summer and life.
